Liam Moore has revealed that Reading are delighted with the clean sheet that they picked up at Stoke in Saturday's forgettable goalless draw.

The Royals have failed to win in their last three matches and have now recorded just one victory in their last six Championship fixtures.

Mark Bowen changed up their formation for the trip to Stoke on Saturday and played with four defenders which was different to their previous games where the club had played with a back five.

Despite not having the sort of attacking threat they desire, they did look organised in their defensive positions which pleased the captain a lot.

Speaking to Reading's official website, Moore said: “The clean sheet was really big - I had a couple of dodgy nights’ sleep after Wednesday. It was tough to take – we were poor, I was poor.

I’m a defender – I wanted to defend. We went to a back four, which I relished, and the clean sheet was good."

The Verdict

It was a dire game on Saturday, but you can't argue with a point away from home and a clean sheet. The defence did their part in keeping the door shut, but Reading have to do more overall especially after the money they spent during the summer.

Reading now have two intriguing home games in a week as they face Derby and QPR. They'll want to get some crucial points on the board to ensure that they can climb up the league over the busy Christmas period.

Moore has been a brilliant player for the Royals in past seasons, but he has had a slow half in this current one. He'll hope that he can now build on this impressive performance.
