Liam Cooper has reacted to Leeds United fans selling out 1,400 allocation at Manchester United for tonight’s FA Youth Cup clash.

Leeds head to Old Trafford tonight, with their under-18s squad taking on their Manchester United counterparts at Old Trafford.

And, despite fans travelling the entire country supporting the side’s push for promotion in the Championship, they are set to back their youngsters with big numbers in Manchester tonight.

It has been widely reported that Leeds were offered a 1,400 allocation at Old Trafford, which quickly sold out, as fans renew a rivalry with Manchester United that has stretched back to the 1960s.

Current first-team captain, Cooper, was amongst those to react to the news with the following message from his personal Twitter account:

There is no Championship fixture for Leeds to sink their teeth into this midweek, which has offered fans and first-teamers alike the opportunity to support the under-18s at Old Trafford this evening.

Next up in the Championship for Leeds is a trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, which triggers three-game run that sees the Whites take on a trio of the division’s top-six.

The Verdict

Cooper is a Leeds fan and the club captain, so can obviously relate to those on the terraces making the trip to Old Trafford this evening.

The rivalry with Man United is Leeds’ biggest by far, and you do sense that any opportunity - at any level of football - they get to face them, the fans jump on board.

Tonight should be a great atmosphere and serve the youngsters with a memory they will carry forever.
