Liam Cooper has moved to welcome Leeds United’s two new additions, Ian Poveda and Jean-Kevin Augustin.

Leeds have finally started to make serious progress in the January transfer window in the past five days, signing Poveda from Manchester City and Augustin from RB Leipzig.

The signing of the duo helps Marcelo Bielsa replace Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah, who were recalled by Tottenham and Arsenal earlier in the transfer window.

Poveda, a winger capable on both sides, joins on a permanent deal, with Augustin coming in to provide competition for Patrick Bamford in attack.

He joins on an initial loan deal, but Leeds do have the option to make that permanent if they wish in the summer.

And, Cooper has reacted to both signings with a post on his personal Instagram account.

Poveda could debut tomorrow when Leeds entertain Millwall at Elland Road, as could Augustin, although Bielsa has indicated that the clash will come too early for his new French forward.

Currently, Leeds sit second in the table, three points clear of third-placed Fulham.

A run of one win in seven has seen that lead become slim, but Leeds can get back heading in the right direction with a victory tomorrow.

The Verdict

It is little surprise to see Cooper reaching out to Leeds’ two new signings, as he’s the club’s skipper and leader.

The arrival of Poveda and Augustin will have lifted everyone at Elland Road, right from those on the terraces to those in the dressing room.

Fresh faces were needed on the back of a poor run of form, and with bodies through the door, Leeds have a chance to get things back on track.

Cooper helping this duo settle in will be very important.
