Jack Harrison ensured that Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship table for 24 hours at least, with the winger’s 87th minute header enough for a 1-0 victory over Reading last night.
Leeds left it late to snatch the win at the Madejski Stadium, with Harrison’s goal sparking wild scenes in the away end and amongst Marcelo Bielsa’s playing squad.
And, the positive mood within the Leeds squad was evident in Liam Cooper’s Instagram story, where he showed footage of Barry Douglas playing ‘Pump It Up’ on the coach back to Yorkshire.
The song is reference to what is being sung on the terraces at Leeds games, with Whites fans heard chanting: “Don’t you know pump it up, the Whites are going up” as they search for promotion back to the Premier League.
Douglas was an unused substitute again last night for Leeds, with Bielsa giving Ezgjan Alioski the nod from the bench as the Whites probed for a winner.
And, Alioski was involved in the build-up to Harrison’s winner, feeding the advancing Helder Costa on a counterattack, with the Portuguese winger picking out the head of Harrison to secure a vital three points.
The midweek Leeds United quiz – How much attention have you paid in 2019/20 so far?
Leeds fans will love to see this footage, with the playing squad and supporters really together at this moment in time.
That was evident in the post-match scenes and the fact the players are joining the supporters with their chants just underlines the mood at Elland Road.
