There was a high turnover of players at Nottingham Forest this summer and the business they have done looks to be impressive on the whole.

As a result of the serious recruitment, departures were inevitable and there were plenty of exits at the City Ground, with Liam Bridcutt one who left.

The former Brighton midfielder was frozen out at Forest for virtually all of last season, whilst he never really established himself prior to that either.

So, when the chance to move to Bolton on loan came up it looked as though it would be a move that suited all parties and that's how it worked out initially.

Given all the chaos at Wanderers over the past few months, Bridcutt was one of many new faces at the club but he stood out with his performances on the pitch as well as his leadership which saw him named as captain.

Whilst he couldn't inspire the team to a victory, the new-look Bolton side picked up impressive points against Oxford and Sunderland with the 30-year-old crucial to that.

However, with everything going so well for him on a personal note, the Scotland international then suffered a serious injury as the Trotters drew with Blackpool last time out, fracturing his collarbone.

That has left Bridcutt facing a spell of up to eight weeks out and it will be a real blow for him and the team.

Staying in the league looks a long shot given the points deduction but the defensive midfielder has already shown in his short spell with his club that he can thrive in the third tier.
