Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade has insisted he is still looking to bolster his squad ahead of the start of the new League One season.
Orient finished third in League One last season and made it to the play-off final, but they were beaten by Rotherham on penalties.
Slade will be hoping for a successful promotion push this season, but following Francesco Becchetti’s takeover his only focus right now is on bringing more players in.
Speaking to the Orient official site he said: “We’re trying to add to the squad to give us a little more strength in depth, and I think a few new faces around the place will lift the mood at the club as well
“If we can strengthen the squad in the coming weeks before the start of the season we will be delighted and I’m sure the lads that have been with us for a long time will be delighted too”
Slade then went on to add: “I’m not sure being fifth favourites is a fair reflection. Certainly if you looked at the financial table we wouldn’t be anywhere near the top half. But we’ve got a good team and group together.
“If there are a few more pennies available to sign a few players that will help.”
Having kept the core of a team that played so well under him last season, Slade knows that if he can convince the right players to come and ply their trade at Brisbane Road then Orient and their supporters could be in for a positive season.
