Sky Sports News understands Leyton Orient are leading the chase for former Millwall defender Shane Lowry.
It is reported he has a number of options that includes Championship clubs, League One clubs and oversea’s all expressing interest. However it is understood the Sky Bet League one side lead the queue for his services.
Orient narrowly missed out on promotion last season with the despair of a playoff final defeat to Rotherham.
Going into the new campiagn the O’s will be eager to go that one step further this time round. Strengthening the side with a player of Lowry’s caliber and experience would be a good start.
He brings a lot of football league experience having loan spells at Plymouth Argyle, Leeds United and Sheffield United prior to linking up with Millwall.
Lowry now 25 is a free agent following his release from the den at the end of last season.
The Australian born defender was a key member of the squad at the den in the 2012-2013 campaign making over 40 appearances for the lions and in the process helping the side reach the semi-final of the FA cup.
However last season was a different story with Lowry having a number of setbacks with injuries and suspension. The full back received two red cards last season picking them up in fixtures against Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday.
