Newly appointed Reading boss, Jose Gomes is sure to have an almighty task on his hands to keep the Royals in the Championship this season.

Reading are currently sat 23rd in the league table, and are already five points adrift of safety, which will be hugely concerning for the club's supporters, many of whom have been left frustrated by recent performances.

But Gomes' arrival seems to have sparked new belief into this Royals squad, and Gomes has wasted no time in clearing out the 'deadwood'.

It has also been stated that Gomes is looking to bring in loanees to help aid their fight against relegation this season.

We look at how the Royals could line up for the remainder of this season below.

There aren't expected to be many notable additions to the squad, with Jose Gomes likely to use the players he currently has at his disposal.

He already seems to be getting the best out of some previously underperforming players such as Sone Aluko and John Swift, and the pair will be key to their potential survival this season.

Jordan Obita will be a welcome return for the Royals in the near future and he'll have to battle youngster, Omar Richards for a starting spot in Gomes' side for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Lewis Baker has already been linked with a move to Reading ahead of a season-long loan deal after being recalled by Chelsea from league-leaders, Leeds United.

One problem position that Gomes is likely to solve for his side in the near future is the goalkeeping position, which is currently occupied by Anssi Jaakkola.

But the Finland international is likely to be replaced after some poor performances, and Southampton goalkeeper, Fraser Forster should be one of their top targets this month.

It's sure to be a tough remainder of the season, but fans will be hoping that Gomes can save the club from relegation to League One which will be fans' worst nightmare.
