Derby County's summer recruit from League One, Jack Marriott, is catching the eye with his current run of impressive form.

He arrived from Peterborough on the back of an impressive season last time out but has had to bide his time before being given a chance with the Rams.

He got his first goal in Derby colours against Manchester United but has since settled into the first team picture nicely. The 24-year-old has bagged five goals in six matches and looks to be staking a claim to be the number one striker at Pride Park.

His cool finishing and habit of popping up in the right place shows an understanding of the centre forward's role and his unnerving accuracy is an attribute that will attract attention from further up.

If he keeps scoring, will Derby County struggle to hold on to the former Luton and Ipswich man? Or is it still too early to tell? Our FLW panel discuss.

George Dagless

It's a bit early to say.

He's started well for Derby but let's see if he can keep it up over the season before there's real talk of a Premier League move.

I think eventually he'll make it to the top flight; it might take longer than one season though because that would be some rise.

Jay Taylor

It will certainly be tricky, but only if he continues his current form.

Should Jack Marriott dip and fail to score again for the season, then I doubt many clubs would come in for him.

But if the striker's mercurial performances continue, then Derby will have a fight on their hands to keep an influential player on their books.

On his day Marriott is a match-winner and they are premium commodities in today's game.

Gary Hutchinson

I've championed Marriott for ages after seeing him at Luton and I've no doubt at all he'll play in the Premier League.

He's a natural goal scorer, a player who will score at any club he plays for. There's only one of those comes along every so often, Jermain Defoe was another.

Whatever he offers elsewhere on the pitch is irrelevant, Marriott deals in the currency of football. Goals. There's no 'if' he keeps scoring applicable here. He will, it's what he does.
