Scunthorpe United will face their upcoming League Two campaign with a new manager as they announced former Ipswich Town boss Paul Hurst yesterday.

The Iron had a torrid season, going from play-off semi-finalists a year ago to second from bottom. They were relegated having got through two managers during the season and they're now facing up to life in the basement division once more.

After sacking Nick Daws and then Stuart McCall, they needed to get their appointment correct and fans on Twitter have been quick to praise them for securing the services of Hurst.

His biggest achievements came with Grimsby Town and Shrewsbury. The Mariners are bitter local rivals of Scunthorpe and he guided them to the Football League after a six-year absence.

He swapped Blundell Park for the New Meadow and put Shrewsbury in the play-offs in League One, as well as taking them to the EFL Trophy final.

His Ipswich stint was not a success, he tried to take League One players into the Championship and it backfired badly. He's now back at a level he knows well and these Iron fans are delighted to see it.
