Connor Ogilvie has said that he's 'definitely found his new home' after completing a permanent move to Portsmouth.

The 25-year-old has linked up with the South Coast club on an initial two-year contract following the end of his deal with previous club Gillingham at the end of last term.

A left-back by trade, Ogilvie enjoyed a wonderful campaign in League One last term after making 51 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and creating four more for his teammates.

For Portsmouth the focus going into the new campaign is clear.

Danny Cowley is in charge of the first team and his remit will be to secure promotion to the Championship after falling just two points short last term with the club finishing the season in eighth position.

Signings like Ogilvie will be key in their hopes of going up and taking to social media, Ogilvie shared his determination to help the club to secure their target.

Taking to Twitter, he said: "A new chapter begins in my life, I’m buzzing to get started with Pompey. I’ve definitely found my new home. Let’s get this promotion push started."

The verdict

This is a fantastic signing for Portsmouth.

Connor Ogilvie was one of League One's top performers last term due to his reliability, defensive ability and even his attacking output.

However with Pompey he'll be under even greater pressure to perform as Danny Cowley's side look to secure promotion to the Championship after missing out last term.

Portsmouth have done some solid business so far and fans will be hoping that it's enough to help the club to achieve their objectives.
