Birmingham City are edging closer to the drop, with new boss Garry Monk's men struggling towards the foot of the Championship table with just a handful of games remaining.

Fans will remain optimistic following the recent appointment of Monk but will remain concerned over their side's recent poor form which has seen them hand victory to their opponents with relative ease.

The Blues invested heavily last summer under former boss Harry Redknapp, with a number of big-money stars brought in to turn the club's fortunes around having narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of the season.

In a reasonably talented squad, it is clear that this three are simply falling below the required standard...

A £6 million signing at Championship level should be one of the stars of the division, but the Spanish play maker has fallen apart since his summer switch from Brentford.

Injuries did hinder the early stages of his career at St Andrew's but the 26-year-old has continued to fall below expectations, bagging just a handful of goals when he had found the net for fun at Griffin Park.

The player will undoubtedly come good eventually, but having had so much faith put into him by previous management and the fans, the former Eibar winger will feel that he has certainly let a lot of people down at his new side.

A sought-after free agent in the summer following his release from Blackburn Rovers, Lowe was picked up by Redknapp but has simply failed to replicate the form he showed at Ewood Park over the past couple of seasons.

The 26-year-old has been a peripheral figure at St Andrew's, with others preferred over him more often than not and he is all but certain to be seeking new employment when the transfer window opens for business once more.

Lowe could have come into the club and bossed the midfield at the West Midlands side, but his confidence appears shot to pieces and it is clear he is missing Blackburn, a club where he spent many years in the academy and one extremely close to his heart.

Stockdale was a top performer for Brighton as they secured their passage to the Premier League for the first time and his signing for the Blues took many by surprise.

Much was expected of Stockdale, with fans hoping that he would repeat his antics of the previous season and celebrate another promotion, but things just haven't worked out for the 32-year-old.

The regular number one, Stockdale hasn't been assisted by a shaky defence but a number of errors haven't cast the player in a positive light and he will surely be left regretting his decision to head north.

Overall the real has been a real disappointment.

Blues fans, thoughts?
