The Athletic's Phil Hay has claimed that left-backs have been an issue for Leeds United over the last month or so, which has led many Whites fans to call for Leif Davis to be given a chance.

Leeds have struggled since the start of the festive period, winning just once since the 10th of December.

That run has seen them lose their place at the top of the Championship and meant that the gap between them and third place Brentford has closed to just six points.

Writing for The Athletic, Hay has suggested that left-back has been an issue position during that period and that Leeds face a familiar dilemma, with a number of options available but none seeming to "put the position to bed".

One man that was not mentioned by Hay was Davis, an academy product that has been given a few chances with the first team this season.

The 20-year-old has made three substitute appearances in the Championship this season and has started twice in the Carabao Cup.

Davis, who joined from Morecambe in 2018, has shown in his brief appearances that he has the athleticism to play the position but the jury remains out on how he would deal week in week out in the Championship.

He appears to be a popular player amongst fans of the club, however, with many of them taking to Twitter to call for him to be given a chance.
