Former Swansea City midfielder has given his verdict on exciting young defender Joe Rodon after his recent escapades during international duty.

The 21-year-old added two more caps to his Welsh total during clashes with Slovakia and Croatia in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign and his former Swans teammate was quick to offer his feedback.

And in the comments of the update, Fer replied with his two-word verdict, dubbing Rodon a: "Wholeeee player".

Rodon replied with a little heart emoji, just to show his appreciation, and will now no doubt head back into domestic football with a spring in his step.

This season has seen him play every minute of the South Wales' side's 11 matches in teh Championship, helping them to an impressive fourth place.

It is the first season they have had to negotiate without Fer since the 2014/15 campaign after he left the Liberty to join Dutch side Feyenoord after his contract had expired.

In his time in Wales, the Dutchman made 101 appearances for the club, scoring ten goals and assisting 11 more in the process.

The verdict

This is nice to see from Fer.

He did not have the most successful spell in Swansea, dealing with a host of injury problems throughout his stay, but remained largely admired by the fan base.

And he was clearly a great presence in the dressing room, emphasised by his desire to remain in touch with those players, such as Rodon, that he has left behind.
