Newly promoted Luton Town could be facing a losing battle as their hopes of keeping hold of star defender James Justin appear to be dwindling away.

The 19-year-old has been in superb form for the Hatters as they have enjoyed a rise back into the second tier of English football, but according to the Leicester Mercury, Brendan Rodgers' Foxes are increasingly confident of securing a deal for the youngster.

The former Premier League champions are in the hunt for some new faces and have identified Justin as the ideal sort of signing to come into the club and become the latest in a long line of young players to impress at the King Power, following in the footsteps of the likes of Harry Maguire and James Maddison.

The Foxes currently have Ricardo Pereira occupying the right back slot, but this will not deter them in their hunt for Luton's Justin, who Leicester will see as the ideal long-term solution down the right hand side of the field.

Justin will no doubt be one of the cheaper defensive options available to Leicester, with Aston Villa seeing a £7.5m offer rejected for the defender earlier in the summer.

While this sort of fee will be expected to be surpassed should Luton decide to sell, it will not deter the Foxes, who are cash rich from Premier League money and not averse to spending big on the top young talent outside of the Premier League.

The Verdict

It's looking increasingly likely that Leicester will complete this move, and it will be a good one for Justin.

The only thing you ask really is that he gets minutes, and you'd assumed under Brendan Rodgers he will be utilised accordingly.

Justin is top class, and at 19, has all the time in the world to flourish even further.
