Leicester City are looking to activate Jonny Evans’ £3m release clause at West Bromwich Albion.

There looks set to be a number of changes at West Brom this summer following their relegation from the Premier League, with Darren Moore looking to prepare a squad for the Sky Bet Championship.

Evans, West Brom’s captain, looks set to leave the Hawthorns in the coming weeks, with Leicester City keen to activate the £3m release clause in the centre-back’s contract, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Northern Irish international, who previously played for Manchester United, featured on 28 occasions for the Baggies last season in the Premier League, scoring two goals and registering two assists.

The 30-year-old was unable to prevent West Brom slipping back into the Championship, with top-flight clubs now looking to secure his signature.

Back in January, it was reported by the BBC that both Arsenal and Manchester City were interested in Evans, with the former even willing to pay £25m to secure the service of the centre-back.

The Verdict

Interest in Evans is hardly a surprise, as the defender still has an awful lot to offer in the Premier League, despite the disappointment of last season.

At the reported £3m, Leicester will see the 30-year-old as a bargain, particularly when you consider the price Arsenal were willing to pay not that long ago.

It will be frustrating for West Brom to see Evans depart in a cut-price deal.
