Brentford are desperate to keep Chris Mepham this summer and have rejected Leicester City's latest big money offer for him.

According to ESPN, Brentford have turned down a £15m bid for Mepham from Leicester.

Bournemouth have also been hotly pursuing the young defender and their £12m bid was knocked back recently.

Mepham enjoyed a superb breakthrough season at Griffin Park, playing 23 games for the West London club last term and establishing himself as a guaranteed starter in Dean Smith's side.

This has alerted the interest of some Premier League sides, who are keen on snapping up the Wales international.

Leicester are willing to part with a large sum of cash for the towering 6ft 3in defender, but Brentford are not willing to let him go for that price.

The 20-year-old still has four years left on his contract with Brentford so the club are under no pressure to sell him.

The Verdict

Mepham is one of the best young players outside of the Premier League and Brentford are right to reject these offers.

By this time next year, he could have helped them to promotion and be worth double what Leicester are offering.

At such a young age, he is already a star in the Championship and a reliable defender with a bright future.
