Leicester City are considering Reading’s rising star Michael Olise as a potential alternative to Celtic’s Ryan Christie ahead of the January transfer window as they look to add more creativity to their squad.
Olise has been one of the standout performers in the Championship so far this season and has played a pivotal role in helping to establish Reading up amongst the promotion contenders. The 19-year-old had been linked with a potential move to Leeds United in the summer. He has since been linked with potential moves to the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
The attacking midfielder, though, has so far remained at Reading and has been given the full faith of manager Veljko Paunović who has handed him 14 starts in the Royals’ opening 19 Championship matches. Olise has repaid that faith by registering an impressive tally of four goals and six assists that have been vital in picking up important results.

It has now emerged that Leicester could be the latest club to make a move for the attacking midfielder in January, with the Foxes seeking to bring in some extra creativity, per Eurosport. It is thought that Christie is target but that the Reading star could potentially be signed as an alternative if that deal does not come off.
Given Olise’s excellent form at the start of the campaign for the Royals, it is no surprise to see him attracting the level of attention that he is doing from clubs in the Premier League. The 19-year-old is clearly a player destined for the top-flight but he could well help to take Reading there if he does remain with them in January.
The attacking midfielder’s qualities have been there for all to see so far this season, with him averaging 1.6 key passes and also 1.2 tackles per game (Sofascore). That has seen Paunović label him as someone with ‘huge potential’ and the feeling is that he could very well make it to the very top of the game if he continues his development.
Leicester play an attractive brand of football and have been good at developing young talent, and it would be a potentially ideal destination for Olise. However, at the moment Reading seems like the perfect place for him and there should be no rush to secure that big move away at this stage.
