Leicester City and Everton are leading the race to sign James Maddison this summer and could make their move to sign the midfielder as early as this week.

According to the Mirror, Norwich will sell Maddison this summer and a host of Premier League club are interested in taking him away from Carrow Road after an impressive year in the Sky Bet Championship.

The £25m-rated midfielder has attracted interest from Tottenham and Manchester City, but Leicester and Everton are still leading the race to sign him and could move early to beat their high-profile rivals, who are yet to step up their interest.

Fulham, recently promoted to the Premier League, also have an interest in the 21-year-old.

Maddison shone for Norwich last season, despite the Canaries failing to mount a push for the play-offs in the Championship.

From midfield, Maddison made 49 appearances across all competitions, with the 21-year-old managing 15 goals (14 in the Championship), as well as a further eight assists for the Canaries.

Currently, Maddison is recovering from a knee ligament injury, but should be fit by the start of next month.

The Verdict

There is a long list of clubs interested in Maddison, who has just enjoyed a fine year of football in the Championship.

Who moves fast and meets Norwich’s valuation will win the race, with Leicester and Everton clearly keen to edge out some of the Premier League’s top-six.

Should either of that duo win the race before Spurs or City show further interest, it will feel like a major coup.
