Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson has revealed that the reason behind his recent absence from playing is down to a heart issue uncovered during a medical ahead of his ultimately unsuccessful move to AC Milan in the January transfer window.

Robinson had seemingly been set to complete a transfer to the Italian giants on the final day of the winter window, only for the move to collapse, with the defender yet to make an appearance for Wigan since those events.

In a statement issued on Wigan's website, Robinson has now explained that that is due to an irregular heart rhythm that was uncovered in his medical in Italy, a problem which meant the 22-year-old could not complete the required tests in time, thus stopping the move from being completed.

It has also been confirmed that Robinson will now undergo a procedure called an ablation in an attempt to rectify the issue, with the left-back adding that he is hopeful of playing again for Wigan "sooner rather than later".

Taking to Twitter to react to Robinson's statement, plenty of Wigan fans were understandably keen to send their support to the defender, and here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
