‘Legend in the making’, ‘Touch was a bit loose’ – Some Aston Villa fans divided over player’s display

Aston Villa scraped past a resilient Yeovil side in last night’s EFL Cup first round after a rather tepid display at Huish Park.

A 77th minute Conor Hourihane goal was all that separated the two sides, but it could have been much worse for Steve Bruce’s side.

Tommy Elphick hauled down the Yeovil captain Omar Sowunmi to give the Glovers a penalty, but Alex Fisher’s spot kick was saved by Andre Moreira.

Few Villa players covered themselves in glory and Steve Bruce left nobody in any doubt as to his thoughts with an angry post-match interview.

One player who did catch the eye for Villa was 20-year old academy graduate Andre Green.

Green looked lively throughout and almost scored a stunner with a long-range drive, which gives the fans hope he might be about to break through.

He’s been on the cusp of the first team for eighteen months now, but this might be the season he finally emerges from Jack Grealish’s huge shadow.

Green admitted on social media that Villa made it hard for themselves and that drew many assessments of his performance, the best of which can be found below.
