One of the standout matches in the Championship this weekend sees Sheffield Wednesday entertain Stoke City at Hillsborough.

The hosts are gearing up for a wretched run of fixtures that will see them play Stoke, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Leeds, and West Brom in their next five games.

However, they approach this game on the back of three successive league wins and will be confident of making it four against a Potters side that are underachieving.

Gary Rowett's men were pre-season favourites for promotion but have disappointed big time so far, recording only one victory in six.

Yet, there's no doubt that they have genuine quality all over the pitch and if things click then they are capable of climbing the table quickly.

Here we look at a combined XI of the two sides in a 4-2-3-1 formation...

The England keeper would be the best in the league if he manages to get anywhere his best form and whilst that hasn't happened yet, he is still a quality stopper at this level.

It was a very tough decision to pick a right-back, with few standout players. Martina has done reasonably well since coming in and is solid though.

The Sheffield Wednesday skipper is a strong player at this level and a real leader at the back.

With Ryan Shawcross and Ashley Williams struggling this season, Martins Indi is the option to partner Lees and is better on the ball than the alternatives.

Pieters has done well in the Championship this season. He is solid defensively and has chipped in with two goals as well.

The Wales international hasn't hit top form this season but has real quality on the ball and Stoke need him to get back near his best.

The Scotland international has been crucial to the Owls recent good form with his creativity and quality on the ball.

When on form he is a standout midfielder in the league.

The former Huddersfield man is another who has proven himself at this level over the years.

Injuries have impacted him in the past few games but he is expected to be fit for Hillsborough and could make the difference for Stoke.

Even though he is suspended for this game, you have to include the Owls playmaker who has proven over the years just how good he is at this level.

He hasn't found his best form this season but it's a long season and if Wednesday are to be successful they will need a lot from the Argentinian.

The Owls midfielder can play in a few positions and is a good player, with real class in his left-foot as he has proven in the past.

Both sides have plenty of variety up top but no striker has really shone this season.

However, if you look at form over the years then Afobe has to be picked. His performances with Wolves in two spells proved what he can do and Gary Rowett needs to find a formula that gets the former Arsenal man firing as he can be devastating.
