There have been some fine performances in the Sky Bet Championship so far this season, with a host of individuals impressing during the opening weeks of the 2017/18 campaign.

Leeds United currently top the table, but are joined on 17 points by Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City, whilst the likes of Sheffield United and Preston North End have impressed during an early stage of the season – along with usual suspects, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.

Here at FLW, we have looked to create the strongest Championship team at this current time, looking at the form of individuals, whilst also considering what they have shown in previous years.

In goal we have opted for Sheffield Wednesday’s Keiren Westwood, who has been key in helping the Owls remain unbeaten in the Championship since the opening day of the season.

Ahead of the Irishman, we have opted to include two members of the Leeds defence that have conceded on just three occasions this season – Luke Ayling and Pontus Jansson.

Making up the rest of the defence is Middlesbrough’s in-demand centre-back, Ben Gibson, and Bristol City’s impressive left-back, Joe Bryan.

We have opted for a midfield four, which features Wolves’ £15m man Ruben Neves in central midfield, alongside Adam Clayton, who has proved his quality year after year in the Championship.

In the wide areas we have selected two of the Championship’s most creative players, Cardiff’s Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Wolves’ Diogo Jota, who both have five goals and one assist to their name across all competitions this year.

In attack there are plenty of candidates, but we have opted for Britt Assombalonga, who has already scored five goals for Boro this season, alongside Billy Sharp – Sheffield United’s talisman.
