It has been a frantic couple of weeks for all concerned with Leeds United, with the Yorkshire club back firmly in the driving seat in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites have been at loggerheads with local rivals Sheffield United for the duration of the campaign, but at such a crucial stage of the season, they now look the most likely to make a long-awaited return to the top-flight next term.

Marcelo Bielsa's men made Chris Wilder's Blades pay for dropping points at home to Millwall on Saturday afternoon, defeating fellow Yorkshire counterparts Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road by a goal to nil.

The result leaves the Whites sitting three points clear of United with just four games left to play this season, ahead of upcoming clashes with Wigan Athletic and Brentford over a hectic Easter period.

After losing 1-0 to the Blades at Elland Road only last month, Leeds are looking as if they have had the last laugh right now, and the Whites will be looking to rub even more salt into United's wounds as they anxiously wait for some key injury news.

In the midst of an enthralling afternoon at Bramall Lane on Saturday, top scorer Billy Sharp and regular defender Chris Basham were taken off with injuries, which changed the impetus of the game.

The duo now face an anxious wait to see how long they will be unavailable for, if worst comes to worst. It's hard to really put into words just how important the pair are to Chris Wilder's men - Sharp has scored goals for fun this term, whilst Basham has been part of a solid three-man defence alongside Jack O'Connell and John Egan.

But with the latter definitely out for the next three games with suspension, Bielsa will be praying that Basham and Sharp also join the Irishman in the stands, as we approach the final stages of what has been a magnificent campaign.

Everything is going in Leeds' favour at completely the right time of the season, with a return to the Premier League looking increasingly likely as days go by.
