Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has not given up hope of signing Liverpool winger Ryan Kent this summer.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a loan move to Elland Road for weeks, after he impressed while on loan at Rangers last season.

Steven Gerrard is keen on bringing the highly-rated attacker back to Ibrox on another season-long loan, but it seems as though the Rangers boss will face competition from Leeds.

Bielsa delayed his flight out to Leeds' pre-season tour of Australia to watch Kent in action for Liverpool in a friendly against Bradford City at the weekend, where he had a hand in all three goals as the Reds ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not made it clear whether he would be prepared to allow Kent to be sent out on loan again and he could yet remain at Anfield this summer.

So, what exactly are Leeds' chances of signing Kent? We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"I’d be surprised if this deal went through before the transfer window closes.

"I have no doubt in my mind that Kent is a player that could certainly add some quality to the Leeds squad.

"But they already have Helder Costa, Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison and Jack Clarke in wide areas next season.

"It will be interesting to see whether Ezgjan Alioski will return to his natural wide position next season as well, so Bielsa doesn’t need another winger in my opinion.

"Kent was impressive for Rangers last season, scoring six goals, and I think he could benefit from another loan spell.

"I think he’s destined for another loan move to Steven Gerrard’s side, as Leeds wouldn’t be able to offer him the regular game time that Liverpool will be wanting him to get in next year’s league campaign."

George Dagless

"I can't see it happening.

"I think Leeds and Rangers both still have a chance of getting him in on loan but it is clear that the winger enjoyed his time at Ibrox and that he would surely favour moving back there.

"A loan deal is only on the cards it seems now and Liverpool would rather sell so that is the only way Leeds could get in front in my eyes, but I don't think they're willing to part with the money being asked for.

"Rangers seem to have the edge, then, and if he moves anywhere this summer I expect it to be back to Glasgow."

Ned Holmes

"I can see it happening, but I think Leeds will have to really work to convince him it is the right choice.

"Kent to Leeds could work brilliantly for both parties. He excelled at Rangers and a new challenge would likely be brilliant for his development.

"However, my main worry is the lack of first-team minutes he may get at the Whites.

"Bielsa has already added Jack Harrison and Helder Costa this summer, and with Jack Clarke returning Kent may not be first choice.

"What Kent needs, and what his parent club need him to have, this season is to be a regular starter but given Leeds' transfer business this summer I’m not sure he’ll get that."
