There is some exceptional talent on show in the Sky Bet Championship this season, with the standard of the division once again improving significantly during the 2017/18 campaign.

Results in the Carabao Cup during the week, where a number of Premier League sides were knocked out of the competition by Championship clubs, was further evidence of how the standard is improving.

Here at FLW, we have looked to create the best Championship XI, including players only over the age of 25.

We have opted for Sheffield Wednesday’s Irish international goalkeeper, Keiren Westwood, as the last line of our defence, which is made up of two Leeds United players, along with a member of Aston Villa and Bristol City’s squads.

Luke Ayling and Pontus Jansson, who have been key to Leeds’ fast start to the season, line up alongside Neil Taylor and Aden Flint in our defence.

We have opted for a 4-3-3 formation, with our midfield trio anchored by Kieran Lee, who has proved to be key to Sheffield Wednesday’s success over recent years.

Either side of Lee is Tom Cairney and Adam Clayton, two players who ooze class in the Championship, particularly the former, who spearheaded Fulham’s play-off charge last season, scoring 13 goals and adding 10 assists.

In attack we have opted for Aston Villa’s, Jonathan Kodjia, slightly out of position on the left, with Jota on the right.

Jota is yet to impress since his move to Birmingham City, but last season was key to Brentford’s success, once again proving to be one of the Championship’s best attackers.

The focal point of our attack is Gary Hooper, who is in exceptional form at this current time, scoring four goals in his last four appearances for Sheffield Wednesday.

Substitutes: Darren Randolph (Middlesbrough), Willy Boly (Wolves), Sean Morrison (Cardiff City), Kevin McDonald (Fulham), Fernando Forestieri (Sheffield Wednesday), Samuel Saiz (Leeds), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United).
