Tyler Roberts has, unsurprisingly, named Gareth Bale as the best player he’s played with.

Leeds United forward Roberts is still only 21, with the Welshman still finding his way in the game at Championship level under Marcelo Bielsa.

Nevertheless, he’s a full Welsh international, meaning he has the opportunity to link up with the likes of Real Madrid man, Bale.

Recently, Roberts has sat down with Leeds’ official website, where he’s revealed that Bale is the best player he’s linked up with.

He stated: “It would have to be Gareth Bale.

“The first few times I linked up with the senior side with Wales I was star struck.  It was like wow he’s actually there and he’s my teammate.

“It was crazy, but then you’ve got to play with him and he’s just another player, you can’t treat him any different on the pitch.”

QUIZ: Can you name every Leeds United player’s shirt number?

Discussing if the Madrid star had ever had any words of advice for the Leeds forward, Roberts recalled a discussion he had.

Continuing, the Leeds No.11 said: “It is great to learn off him and be around someone who has done so much in the game.

“I trained with the Wales side before they went to the Euros in 2016 and after that training camp he had a word with me.

“He could see I was talented and spoke about how important it was to work hard and listen to the right coaches and not to get too far ahead of myself.

“It was nice to hear that from him and that he took the time to come and say that when I was 15/16.”

This season, Roberts has seen his season hampered by injuries, but he’s still managed to strike three goals for Marcelo Bielsa’s side as they look to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Recently, his brace helped Leeds to a 4-0 victory over Hull City, with Roberts starting to really push Patrick Bamford for a starting berth before the forced postponement of games.

The Verdict

This really isn’t a surprise, with Bale one of the world’s best players, who has done so much on the European stage.

To play for Real Madrid, you’ve got to have some real pedigree, which Bale has, even if his spell in Spain has taken a sour turn of late.

Roberts and Bale still link up now with Wales, and for Leeds, they will hope the Madrid man can have a positive influence of their player's career.
