The summer gone by really saw Leeds United splash the cash upon their return to the Premier League.

Leeds had spent 16 years outside the Premier League and in the EFL wilderness, but they returned by breaking their club-record transfer fee and setting the division alight with fearless attacking intent.

Premier League football’s riches mean that heading into the coming summer transfer window there’s another chance for Leeds to smash that transfer record fee again.

But what of the current 10 most expensive Leeds United signing ever?

Where are they and what are they up to?

Bamford cost Leeds £7m from Middlesbrough back in 2018, although there could have been a further £3m in add-ons.

The striker fired Leeds to promotion with 16 goals last season and has 14 to his name in the Premier League this campaign.

He’s been electric.

As per the BBC, Dacourt signed for a (then) club-record fee back in 2000, arriving from Lens for £8.3m.

Dacourt helped Leeds to the cusp of Champions League glory and was involved in a side that really thrived in the Premier League.

Now, Dacourt is a pundit with Canal+.

As Leeds chased a trophy after the Millennium, they splashed £11m on Liverpool forward, Fowler.

Ultimately, that breakthrough never came for Leeds and financial meltdown was just around the corner.

Fowler moved on to play for Man City and Liverpool, amongst others, before retiring.

Now, he’s a manager in the Indian Super League with SC East Bengal.

It’s claimed that Keane was signed for a reported £11m back in 2000 to bolster an already strong attacking line-up.

Keane’s spell at Leeds never got going due to the competition for places, but he had a stellar career in England after leaving.

Now, Keane has turned his hand to coaching, serving as Jonathan Woodgate’s assistant at Middlesbrough recently and taking up a similar role within the Irish set-up.

Koch signed for around £13m in the summer from Freiburg.

The centre-back has just returned from a long-term knee injury, stepping off the bench in the recent win over Fulham.

In total, he’s made 12 Premier League appearances this season.

Costa initially arrived at Elland Road on a loan-to-buy deal from Wolves, which will eventually set Leeds back a fee of £16m.

Leeds signed Costa with the view of him delivering promotion, which he helped to do last season.

The 27-year-old has three goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, but has lost his place in the starting side.

The man to take Costa’s place on the right wing was Raphinha.

He signed for a reported fee of £17m back in the summer and has been exceptional in the Premier League.

In 24 appearances, Raphinha has six goals and five assists to his name.

The Spanish international centre-back has had his injury problems since signing for Leeds for a reported fee of £18m back in the summer transfer window.

However, he’s got himself fit now and is thriving in the heart of Leeds’ defence with a run of starts under his belt.

The best, though, is still to come.

Stretching back to 2000, Leeds spent £18m on Ferdinand at West Ham United.

At the time, Ferdinand became Leeds’ club-record signing, which stood for around 20 years.

The centre-back was then sold for huge profit when he joined Manchester United 18 months after.

Now, Ferdinand is a pundit with BT Sport.

The man to smash Ferdinand’s transfer fee was Rodrigo when he signed in the summer of 2020.

Costing Leeds a fee of £27m, Rodrigo is the club’s most expensive ever player.

The 30-year-old has scored three goals in the Premier League this season.
