The EFL are set to discuss the saga regarding Leeds United and the "Spygate" controversy at their monthly board meeting on Thursday, according to reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The whole saga began after reports claimed that a member of Leeds United's playing staff had to be escorted off the premises of Derby County's training ground, before the two sides met at the beginning of January.

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, after coming under major scrutiny, moved to address these claims, by stating that he had dispatched scouts to watch every Championship club train as part of his pre-match analysis.

But reports have now surfaced that the saga is set to continue until Thursday, where the matter will come up on the EFL's agenda in their monthly board meeting, as Leeds await a decision over possible disciplinary charges.

The Yorkshire club have submitted a response to the EFL’s request, for observations into the incident which saw a member of Bielsa’s staff be stopped by police outside the Rams' training ground, with a decision pending.

Since their home victory over the Rams, Leeds have embarked on a run which consists of two defeats in three league games. After their defeat to Norwich City last weekend, the Whites currently sit 2nd in the Sky Bet Championship table, three points clear of 3rd place.

The Verdict

I will be a happy man when this "Spygate" saga comes to a head, and I'm not even a Leeds United fan, so Lord knows how they are feeling right now.

Pundits, players, managers and fans have all had their say, and quite frankly, the best thing to do is what they are set to do on Thursday - discuss it once and for all and make a decision on what happens next.

I'm sure Leeds will just want to concentrate on getting their automatic promotion push back on track, rather than get caught up in all of this once again.
