Leeds United are said to have had scouts present in Spain for Real Madrid Castilla's game against Cartagena according to La Verdad.

It remains unclear as to who the Whites were keeping a close eye on, but Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly keen to draw up a list of potential transfer targets at the earliest of opportunities.

Leeds have previously signed Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid, and it will be interesting to see who they are targeting ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bielsa will be keen to have funds available to him, after recently signing a contract extension with the Yorkshire-based side ahead of next season.

It's likely to be a summer of change at Elland Road, with potential departures and new arrivals on the cards as the Leeds boss looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds missed out on a chance to win promotion back into the top-flight last season, as they fell to a shock defeat to Derby County, who eventually lost out in the final against Aston Villa.

But Bielsa was impressive in his first managerial spell in England, and it will be intriguing to see how Leeds perform next season with potential new signings in place.

The Verdict:

This is an interesting one.

Leeds have already dipped into Spain to sign players, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again over the summer ahead of next season.

It's clearly somewhere that Bielsa is confident he can find some ideal players to suit his playing style and it's difficult to not trust his judgement after such a successful first season in charge at Elland Road.
