It is fair to say Leeds United have been unlucky when it has come to injuries since Marcelo Bielsa took charge of the club last summer, and the latest news could stand one young left-back in good stead.

Despite a handful of key injuries for Leeds so far this season, the club remain third in the Championship knowing a win against QPR on Saturday, and results elsewhere favouring them could see them move back to the summit of the division.

Bielsa has won praise from many fans and pundits for many things during his time as the Whites' boss including integrating a number of the academy players in Leeds first team.

Since arriving at Elland Road, Bielsa has given no few than ten academy players their Leeds debut and has even seen one move to Tottenham Hotspur.

One youngster who has made a breakthrough is 19-year old left-back Leif Davis, who has made five league and three cup appearances under Marcelo Bielsa.

Despite only featuring once so far in the league this season, Davis has been one of the youngsters who has impressed Bielsa and the Elland Road faithful.

Discussing the upcoming match against QPR, Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski could miss out due to injury, vacating the left-back position for Leif Davis.

Davis impressed on his debut for Leeds last December in the 3-2 win over Aston Villa and has since then has been in and out of Bielsa's squad.

With injuries to Bielsa's first and second choice left-back, Davis has his chance again to impress Marcelo Bielsa and his coaching staff.

Davis certainly has shown his capabilities when he has played for the first team in the league and cups, and could fashion a good career ahead of him at the club.

He will no doubt take his chance, but will be level-headed enough to know that once Alioski or Douglas are back in the fold he will probably drop out once again but he shouldn't see this as cause for complaint.

It will be no surprise if Bielsa was to drop Davis in favour of a returning Alioski or Douglas given their experience but Davis will draw on any minutes in the first team and use that experience to stand him in good stead.

If he continues to be a reliable deputy for the left-back position this will prove to be vital experience for his career.

Learning off of arguably one of the best coaches in the world at such a young age will provide Davis with the motivation and experience to forge a career at Leeds or elsewhere in the future.
