Leeds United have confirmed that Pontus Jansson is set for a spell in the treatment room after picking up a knee injury in their defeat to Sheffield United.

He is set to be sidelined for three weeks, which has seen him withdraw from the Sweden squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers this week.

It is thought that the central defender is set to miss Leeds' games against Millwall and Birmingham as he recovers from this latest injury blow.

Leeds United supporters would have admired the courage shown by the Swedish international, as he continued to play through the pain barrier as Bielsa had used all three of his substitutes on the day.

The Whites went on to lose the game 1-0 at Elland Road, as the Blades moved ahead of them in the Championship table at a crucial stage of the season.

With eight games remaining after the international break, Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping that Jansson can return to the starting XI at the earliest of opportunities.

Jansson has been a regular in the Leeds side and has formed an impressive partnership in the centre of defence, alongside Liam Cooper.

He has played a starring role in their promotion push and Jansson will be keen to return to action as quickly as possible to help aid their push for promotion to the Premier League.

The Verdict:

What a blow this is.

Leeds need their key players fit for the promotion run in, and Jansson's latest injury is going to be hugely frustrating for everyone associated with the club.

Gaetano Berardi needs to step up and perform to a high standard in Jansson's absence.
