Jack Clarke’s return to Leeds United last summer didn’t work out, with the winger now on loan across the Championship with Queens Park Rangers and looking to rediscover himself.

Leeds nurtured Clarke’s talent and gave him his chance in the Championship last season, with Marcelo Bielsa’s faith over the winter propelling the teenager onto the radar of many clubs.

Despite a drop-off in form, Clarke moved out of Elland Road and linked up with Tottenham in the summer, instantly returning to Leeds on a season-long loan.

Ultimately, that return to Leeds yielded just 19 minutes of Championship football, with Clarke now on the books at QPR, where he is still looking to get back to the level of form that alerted Spurs.

A break of almost three months has stopped Clarke in his tracks, but the 19-year-old has shared a positive message on Instagram, as he and his QPR teammates step up preparations for the season’s resume.

And, in response to that, former Leeds teammate, Pascal Struijk, has revealed the nickname he has for Clarke:

Struijk and Clarke were teammates at Elland Road in the club’s academy, with both stepping up under Bielsa.

The Verdict

It’s easy to forget just how much talent Clarke has and it’s clearly not being forgotten at Elland Road.

Clarke ripped things up in the under-23s and then did the same when he first moved into the first-team at Elland Road.

‘Starboy’ is a fair reflection of what Clarke showed during that period and there is hope at Leeds, QPR and Tottenham that we see those talents against very soon.
