Leeds' upcoming Sky Bet Championship league fixture against Ipswich Town has a more telling significance than usual.

Before last Saturday, Leeds United were flying high, top of the league, unbeaten in all competitions.

Then Millwall came and spoiled the party.

Whether Leeds were really bad or Millwall were really good is open to debate.

The gulf between the two teams did not reflect their respective league positions, but hey, this is The Championship.

I have to be honest it was a case of Millwall playing a blinder, and Leeds all at sea and couldn’t cope.

That’s a good thing because Leeds coach Thomas Christiansen seems to be the type to be able to adapt.

He comes over as honest and straight forward in the media.

Quite refreshing in the world of football.

But Ipswich will be tough to beat.

They are only a game in hand away from being top of the league themselves.

They might be the first team to try the Millwall method and test if Christiansen has learned from his mistakes.

The signs are good that Leeds can change their pattern of play when they want to. If this was last season they wouldn’t be able to.

So why didn’t he change it at Millwall? The simple answer must be that Christiansen has never faced Millwall before.

With the amount of options Christiansen has at his disposal, failure against Ipswich would be a sign that the Dane does have limitations.

That’s why it’s such a crucial game.
