Leeds United have been dealt a frustrating injury blow ahead of their game with Charlton Athletic.

Marcelo Bielsa revealed in a pre-match press conference ahead of the match at The Valley that Pablo Hernandez is set to miss the game on Saturday with a hamstring problem.

The midfielder has been a key member of the squad in recent seasons, and almost single-handedly guided the Whites back into the Premier League last season.

Hernandez registered 12 goals and 12 assists in total in what was a hugely successful campaign for the experienced Spaniard.

The winger has been just as good so far in this year's campaign, scoring two goals and being on hand to provide two assists.

So it's clear to see that he's going to leave a sizeable void in the Leeds team against a Charlton team that will fancy their chances of coming away from this one with a positive result now that Hernandez is out of action.

But one man that will be itching to prove himself to Marcelo Bielsa is Helder Costa, who hasn't had a regular run in the starting XI since arriving on loan from Wolves during the summer transfer window.

This could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Leeds, as Costa will have the opportunity to prove himself in the team, which could see Hernandez move to his natural CAM role when he returns from injury.

Costa has already shown that he can perform to a high standard in the Championship, having played a key role in Wolves' promotion to the Premier League in the 2017/18 campaign.

There have been calls from some of the Elland Road faithful that Costa should be starting ahead of Jack Harrison, who hasn't been at his best in recent weeks.

But with Hernandez sidelined, it's the perfect opportunity for both Harrison and more importantly, Costa to impress Bielsa and prove their worth in the Leeds squad.
