Leeds United defender Jamie Shackleton has revealed that teammate Jack Clarke is "feeling a lot better" after being taken ill against Middlesbrough at the weekend, speaking on the latest episode of the Talking Shutt podcast.

The pair have been hugely impressive for Leeds this season and have flourished under Marcelo Bielsa after emerging through the youth ranks at Elland Road, however the latter caused real worry on Saturday afternoon.

The 18-year old, after being taken off at half-time for Pablo Hernandez, was seen to be receiving medical attention from paramedics towards the dying embers of the match, after complaining about feeling unwell on the bench.

The winger was then taken to hospital to undergo tests, and is set to miss training this week despite being discharged from hospital on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking on the Talking Shutt podcast, Shackleton offered an update on his friend's health, saying: "I spoke to him on the phone yesterday and he’s feeling a lot better".

Leeds, after rescuing a point in the 101st minute against Boro, sit 2nd in the Sky Bet Championship table after winning just two of their last seven league games, and sit three points clear of Sheffield United in 3rd position.

The Verdict

It's a massive relief for Leeds fans, as this could have been a lot worse, and certainly looked a lot worse when it first happened.

Of course, it's a blow for Leeds to have him unavailable for the clash against Swansea, which is shaping up to be a massive game at Elland Road, however it cannot be helped, and the most important thing is his health.

It speaks volumes of how well he has done this year, to make Leeds fans believe that he is a massive miss.
