Leeds United are no longer interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, according to respectable journalist, Alan Nixon.

News surfaced last month that the Whites were reportedly interested in signing the three-cap England international to provide back-up to Bailey Peacock-Farrell - but it has now emerged that Marcelo Bielsa is no longer interested in landing the 32-year-old.

Jamal Blackman had his loan spell cut short from Chelsea after breaking his leg in a development clash last month, which led to youngster Will Huffer making his first-team debut for the Whites.

The latest is that Leeds, along with Aston Villa, are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who could be available to Leeds at a price of around £4million after falling down the pecking order at St. James' Park.

The Whites, after a comfortable 2-1 home victory against QPR at the weekend, now sit five points clear of the play-off places and just one point off table-toppers, Norwich City.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict

This is a very interesting development for sure.

Whether this means that Leeds are going to put their sole focus on signing Darlow or they just don't like the look of Heaton whatsoever remains to be seen.

Heaton is a very experienced goalkeeper, but is likely to be on high wages and demanding first-team football, which perhaps explains why Leeds plan to swerve him.
