Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest have both been credited with an interest in Crysencio Summerville at Leeds United, yet it’s emerged that the Whites are not currently preparing to let the winger go.

Leeds have been overseeing the Dutch youngster’s development in the last couple of seasons.

He’s made just six appearances in the Premier League, though, whilst also featuring in domestic cup competitions.

However, it’s at U23 level where Summerville has been flying, with 12 Premier League 2 goals and six assists across two campaigns, as well as a goal for the U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.

The Athletic noted how Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest were both admirers of Summerville last month, with the 20-year-old having just a year remaining on his deal at Elland Road.

A further report from the Yorkshire Evening Post last night has detailed how Leeds plan to talk to Summerville about his future, with the view of extending that deal.

They explain that, at this time, there are no plans at Leeds to loan Summerville out, with the winger expected to be part of Jesse Marsch’s plans, having began pre-season training with the first-team earlier in the week.

The Verdict

Looking at Leeds’ squad as it is now, it’s probably fair to assume that they are going to retain Summerville.

However, the summer is relatively young, with Leeds surely looking to revamp their attacking options.

In the event of that happening and presumably Leeds tying Summerville down to a new contract, he might be made available for loan. That might not particularly suit Forest, but it will Sheffield United.

The Blades just might have to be patient.
