Leeds United defender Conor Shaughnessy has posted an update on social media, after making his debut for Mansfield Town at the weekend.

The 23-year-old joined the League Two club on a season-long loan last week and made his debut during the 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

Shaughnessy has made 15 appearances for Leeds so far in his career, but featured just once under Marcelo Bielsa last term. The centre-back spent time on loan at Hearts last season and made eleven appearances for the Scottish Premiership side.

After making his debut for Mansfield at the weekend, Shaughnessy has posted an update on his personal

Mansfield are currently 12th in the League Two table, after taking nine points from their opening six matches.

Meanwhile, Leeds are currently third in the Championship table after winning four of their opening six league games and face Barnsley in their next game after the international break.

The Verdict

Shaughnessy is a decent player and he could still have a future at Leeds, but he needs to perform well while on loan at Mansfield. He's certainly made a good start, helping the team keep a clean sheet on his debut.

It was probably a sensible decision for Leeds to send him out on loan, as he was unlikely to get much of a chance in the first team at Elland Road this season.

The defender will be determined to make an impact at his new club and convince Bielsa that he deserves another chance at Leeds.

He's got a decent amount of experience for Leeds so far in his career, so he should be able to make an impact in League Two.
