Leeds United have suffered a blow to their summer transfer plans as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly blocked another loan move for winger Ryan Kent.

The 22-year-old was thought to be one of the Whites' top transfer targets this summer, with Marcelo Bielsa understood to be keen on signing at least three wingers.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was also believed to be chasing the winger, who spent last season on loan at the Scottish giants, but it appears both clubs could be set to miss out.

According to Daily Mirror journalist David Anderson, Klopp has blocked another loan move for Kent, who will feature in Liverpool's first two pre-season fixtures and be part of the squad for the US tour.

Kent impressed on loan with Rangers last season, SPL Young Player of the Year award.

The England under-20s international is a graduate of the Liverpool academy but has made just one senior appearance for the club, playing 57 minutes against Exeter City in the FA Cup in 2016.

Bielsa's interest in the Englishman was thought to hinge on him being available on loan, indicating Leeds are unlikely to move for the player even if he is available on a permanent deal.

The Verdict

Bielsa has already acquired three of his reported four top summer targets, signing Helder Costa, Ben White, and Jack Harrison, but it appears he is going to be unsuccessful in getting the fourth.

The arrivals of Premier League loanees Costa and Harrison mean the 63-year-old has already added two wingers this summer and signing Kent would have meant he had some excellent weapons for the upcoming season.

Kent was brilliant for Rangers last year and could have been a really dangerous player in the Championship in the 2019/20 season.

Bielsa is still one winger short of the three he was reportedly targeting signing this summer and is likely to struggle to find a loan deal for another winger with as much quality.
