There are few players at Leeds United as popular as Kalvin Phillips, with ‘The Yorkshire Pirlo’ establishing himself as one of the Championship’s standout players.
Leeds are currently top of the Championship table and are enjoying some of their best times in recent years under the management of Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa has worked wonders with Phillips in his two years at the helm, with the 24-year-old now firmly established as a fan favourite and one of the best players outside of the Premier League.
Quiz: Have Leeds United done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no?
On the terrace at Elland Road, many fans are seen wearing their ‘Phillips 23’ jerseys, but it appears that tribute to the midfielder has even spilled into the playing squad.
On Instagram today, Barry Douglas has been enjoying some time with his young son, where he dusted off his own ‘Phillips 23’ shirt and revealed it to the Leeds United fans:
Phillips and Douglas have been part of the Leeds squad to help the Whites to the top of the Championship table, with the Whites on the verge of a Premier League return.
There’s nine games separating the Whites from promotion when the season can resume.
Phillips’ popularity at Leeds doesn’t ever feel like wavering whilst he is playing for the club.
He’s a likeable lad, with a great attitude, which makes him a favourite on the terrace and, clearly, within the dressing room.
In addition to that, this is another sign of just how close the unit at Leeds is.
