When news spread that Kemar Roofe is set to face a significant spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, Leeds social media went into turmoil.

Despite this, nothing will change for Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites, and Patrick Bamford leaves them in safe hands.

While Bamford may not be as prolific as Roofe in front of goal, the 25-year-old has experience of playing at this level, and you would expect he can build a good run of form with a spell of games in the team.

Kemar Roofe has been moulded into an out-and-out striker this season by Marcelo Bielsa, after sometimes playing either off the striker or out wide in previous years both at Leeds and his previous club, Oxford United.

Roofe has netted 14 goals in 26 Championship appearances this season, so the loss is seismic to say the least, but it shouldn't derail Leeds.

Patrick Bamford hasn’t scored anywhere near the same rate, but he has had injury issues of his own.

Other options such as Tyler Roberts, who has played in midfield in recent weeks, can operate in the centre forward role and this is a good option for Bielsa.

The widemen and midfielders continue to chip in with goals, and Jack Harrison is in good form at the moment.

Leeds’ may enter the weekend third in the table, but they should beat a struggling QPR in their game of hand to return to the top-two.

Therefore, the Whites must not let the Roofe injury dishearten them in their promotion chase.

They are more than equipped to still challenge for the top spot and the players in reserve can step up and with a run of games, can seriously build up a bit of goalscoring form.

Bielsa’s system won’t change, the approach play won’t change, and Leeds will continue to create a plethora of chances, so whoever is in there, is more than ready to step up and put the Roofe news behind them.
