Leeds United have identified Nottingham Forest's Jamie Ward as a potential transfer target, but face competition for his signature from a host of other Championship clubs, according to the Daily Mail.

The 30-year-old, who played a prominent role in Northern Ireland's successful Euro 2016 campaign, has only been at the City Ground a year since his controversial move from arch-rivals Derby, but may be on the move again.

Garry Monk is reportedly keen on taking Ward up to Yorkshire, but Brighton, Birmingham and QPR are all also reportedly keen.

This has the potential to be a long-running transfer saga in the Championship as we approach kick-off to the new season.

Leeds have already spent £5 million during this window, but it may not stop there as they try and get a deal for Ward over the line and boost their attacking options.

The club will be hoping to better last season's 13th place finish. The pressure will be on Monk to deliver success, and he will hope he can entice Ward to play a large role in that.
