Leeds United target David Stockdale has denied reports that his excessive wage demands are scuppering a move to Elland Road.

Birmingham City keeper David Stockdale is reportedly a target for the Whites, but some reports have suggested his £40,000 a week wages at St Andrews are a stumbling block. He's taken to Twitter to refute that claim.

"If someone did offer a loan a player doesn’t demand anything it’s between the two clubs so the “wage demand” side is null and void," he said.

Stockdale has been named number one target after Leeds switched their attentions from Manchester City keeper Angus Gunn this week.

They're looking for a new number one after Felix Wiedwald moved back to Germany after one terrible season in England.

Youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell had deputised towards the end of the season, but Leeds need an experienced keeper to fill the void ahead of the current campaign.

Stockdale has 403 senior appearances to his name, spanning 12 different clubs. His most prominent role came as Brighton's keeper between 2014 and 2017.

The Verdict

The beauty of social media, allowing fans to throw around conjecture as fact.

It's nice to see Stockdale using it to defend himself and he's quite right, the wages are none of his concern with a loan move.

Let's hope, for Leeds sake, the situation is resolved soon.
