According to Football Insider, Leeds United are monitoring FC Groningen attacker Mimoun Mahi ahead of a potential January deal.

The 23-year-old player can go down the wings or act as a more central attacker and seems to have all the traits that an attacking signing Thomas Christiansen likes to make.

Good on the ball and capable of playing in multiple roles, as well as someone that few will have heard of, this potential signing looks like another move that could prove to be a great gamble if it pays off as other deals have recently.

The likes of Ezgjan Alioski, Samuel Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga all arrived relatively unknown and have become first-team players pretty instantly so Mahi will want to have the same impact.

He has four goals and two assists from eight games this season so far in all competitions and that is a pretty decent return at the top level of Dutch football.

It is, of course, a risk but it's one that Leeds have taken a lot in recent months and fans should be confident that their club knows exactly what it is doing if it does manage to bring in Mahi.

The Verdict

This is another potential deal that many wouldn't have seen coming and one that involves a player that many will not have heard much about either.

Even so, with recent transfer signings in mind for the club, these factors shouldn't bother fans and there'll be a sense of intrigue around it if it does happen.
