Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is hoping to land his top target this week as the Whites step up their pursuit of Swansea City winger Daniel James.

The 21-year-old came on for the Swans in their 1-0 win over Sheffield United yesterday and delivered a fine second half display, and according to the Yorkshire Post, Leeds are now upping their efforts to sign the winger.

Leeds are determined to land some of their top targets in the coming 10 days after capturing goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid, and the signing of James would send a big message to the rest of the league that the Elland Road club are not going to rest on their laurels.

James, who Swansea reportedly value at around £3m has burst onto the scene this term and already has full international honours for Wales under Ryan Giggs.

Capable of playing in every position in terms of the final third, James has impressed with his speed and direct style of play, something which was evident yesterday as the Swans helped Leeds' cause with a win over Chris Wilder's Blades.

Swans manager Graham Potter will no doubt be keen to keep hold of his young talent, but will also be aware that should a big enough offer come in then he could be powerless to stop the move.

The Verdict

If Leeds can sign James, then it would be a superb piece of business for the club in the short and long term.

James looks a talent that's for certain, and the thought of him and Jack Clarke flanking Kemar Roofe for Bielsa's men is a frightening prospect.
