Leeds United to go back in for £3.5m-rated striker in the summer

Leeds United were searching throughout the January transfer window for a new centre forward to reignite their promotion push.

They eventually settled on West Bromwich Albion’s promising young forward Tyler Roberts but the Daily Mail report that their hunt for a frontman is not quite over and they will reignite their chase for firepower in the summer transfer window.

They harboured an interest in Jerry Mbakogu in the January transfer window and will go back in for the striker, who turns out for Serie B side Carpi and is valued at around £3.5m when the transfer season starts again in the summer.

Heckingbottom will get the chance to reshape his squad then but the club’s return for a target under a previous manager indicates that there is very definitely a transfer committee at work at Elland Road and the manager is not the only one calling the shots.

The Verdict

Transfers by committee is nothing new in modern football and Heckingbottom has said that he is happy to work within such a structure.

Going back in for Mbakogu is further proof of that and there is no doubt that Leeds are still a little light up front.
