The 26-year-old defender currently plies his trade for Ukranian club Karpaty Lviv, however his contract is set to run out at the end of the month, thus meaning he can leave on a free transfer.

The Yorkshire club were linked with a move for Balazic in the new year, but a deal between Karpaty Lviv and Leeds failed to materialise.

Balazic has amassed two appearances for the Slovenia senior side, and he was also a prevelant figure in the Slovenia under-21 side from 2008 to 2010.

The centre-back has been at Karpaty Lviv since 2011 and has accumulated over 70 appearances for the Ukranian outfit, scoring four goals.

Balazic has had previous stints at Gorica, Aguilas, Espanyol B, Mura 05 and Benfica.

Leeds United currently lie in 15th position in the Sky Bet Championship table, having amassed 20 points from 17 league games.

Meanwhile, FLW understands that Leeds United are set to submit an enquiry to Chelsea regarding the availability of their highly-rated winger Jeremie Boga.
