Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United will look to address a major position as Garry Monk revealed that he was looking to bring a striker to the club in the January transfer window, in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post.

After Leeds United talisman Chris Wood limped off during Leeds United's impressive 2-0 victory over Reading, it confirmed the belief that Leeds United are short in the striking department.

Souleymane Doukara did go on to score Leeds' second, however, the loss of the New Zealand international who had scored 11 times for Garry Monk's side and sat behind only Dwight Gayle, Glenn Murray and Scott Hogan in the goalscoring charts could prove to be a huge loss for Leeds United.

A persistent hamstring problem which caused the New Zealand to miss two months of last season will be a massive concern for Garry Monk as it appears to be a re-occurring injury although, in this instance, it appears that Wood was substituted as a cautionary measure.

In an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Garry Monk conceded that he would need to address the issue in the transfer market:

“Striker’s one area, definitely. I said that in the summer and it’s one area we need to strengthen. There are other areas too but I’m sure the club’s working hard to address those situations. For now, I just focus on the group I’ve got.”

It is yet to be seen who Garry Monk targets to bring to the club in January, it could be an important decision to make as Leeds United remain in the heart of the playoff picture.
