Leeds United kicked off their first pre-season game in a record breaking 16-0 win over Italian part-time side FC Gherdeina.
New manager David Hockaday gave new signings Marco Silvestri and Stuart Taylor their debut for the club, the game also featured trialist Andre Blackman who came on as a second half substitute.
However, the game began quietly before Noel Hunt netted a first half hat-trick as The Whites ended the first half 7-0. Hunt directed home a free-kick from Charlie Taylor, he grabbed his brace heading the ball following a David Norris cross into the centre. Hunt completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot when talented defender Sam Byram was fouled in the 18 yard box.
Ex Norwich striker Steve Morrison scored twice, Lewis Walters and David Norris before the break.
Hockaday decided to change the whole 11 players at half time and this didn’t hinder Leeds scoring more. Luke Murphy made it 11-0, Smith netted his fourth and fifth and Dominic Poleon fired twice.
Smith finished the game with a double hat-trick and that saw the club breaking their highest win record.
